Dr. Raja Goli

Hello, my name is Dr. Raja Goli.

Welcome to my official website!

I am an Ophthalmologist. Please keep reading if you want to learn more about me and the eye care services that I offer.

My family moved from India to the United States when I was a small child. We lived in Ohio for a few years where my father, who is a medical doctor, completed part of a General Surgery residency and then we lived in Canada for a few years where my father completed a residency in Urology. I completed elementary school and I earned my high school diploma in a small coal mining town in southeastern Kentucky where my father practiced Urology for many years.

I earned my college Bachelor of Arts degree in Lexington, Kentucky at Transylvania University where I was a Biological Sciences major and I was on the Dean’s List for outstanding academic achievement. Transylvania University was ranked #1 in the category of “Regional Liberal Arts Colleges in the South” by U.S. News & World Report magazine the year that I graduated.

I earned my Doctor of Medicine degree in Louisville, Kentucky at the University of Louisville School of Medicine where I received Honors.

After medical school, I completed two separate three year residencies and a one year fellowship. I am actually two doctors in one. I am an Internist as well as an Ophthalmologist, although I currently limit my practice to Ophthalmology.

I completed my first three year residency in Internal Medicine in Los Angeles, California at the University of Southern California medical center and I was board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine for 10 years.

After completing my Internal Medicine residency, I worked for several years in primary care clinics and emergency rooms. I gained considerable experience treating patients who had heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer, lung disease, strokes, and other serious medical conditions.

I became interested in Ophthalmology and I completed a one-year pre-residency fellowship in Ophthalmic Pathology in Washington, D.C. at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology which was one of the top centers in the world for studying eye pathology. While I was at the AFIP, I was the lead author of a scientific paper that was published in the journal: Ophthalmic, Plastic, and Reconstructive Surgery.

I completed my second three year residency in Ophthalmology in Cincinnati, Ohio at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and I am currently board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. The University of Cincinnati Ophthalmology Department is a highly respected eye surgery training program with internationally renowned faculty.

My major clinical and surgical interests include; cataracts and cataract surgery, diabetic eye disease, double vision, eyelid problems, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and other sight threatening conditions.

I work closely with referring Optometrists and primary care providers and I use the latest equipment and surgical techniques to provide each and every patient with the best chance to improve their eye problems.

I have many interests outside of medicine. My family lives in several different states which gives me a great excuse to travel which I really enjoy. I love driving my cars, exercising, photography, chess, watching sports, dining in nice restaurants, and other activities.

Please watch the 4 minute video below and you can see me performing cataract surgery on one of my patients.

Thank you again for visiting my official website!
